Debian 12 B ookw orm ships with several desktop environments, such a s: GNOME 43, KDE Plasma 5.27, LXDE 11, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18. This separation makes it possible to b uild a variety of official installation images. Most non-fr ee f irmware packages have been moved from non-free to n on-free-firmware. Following the 2022 General Resolution about non -fre e firmware, we have introduced a new archive area ma kin g it possible to separate non-free firmware from the oth er n on-free packages: non-free- firmware. " Boo kwor m will be supported for the next 5 years thanks to the combined work of the Debian Security team and the Debian Long T erm Support team. T he new version shifts the way the project h andles non-free firmware in an attempt to make Debian more compati ble w ith a range of consumer hardware. The Debian project h as an nounced the release of Debian 12 "Bookworm", a new s tabl e version which will receive five years of security upd ates.
